Program Manager (Peer Support)

Program Manager Job Summary :Program Managers are responsible for managing services delivery, team operations and ensuring the provision of recovery-focused, person-centered care with a trauma-informed perspective for persons who use drugs and/or alcohol and may have co-occurring mental health needs. The Program Manager should understand the core competencies of Peer Support Specialists, substance use disorder, Harm Reduction and case management. This position functions as a part of an interdisciplinary and collaborative treatment team working to coordinate holistic client care.

Responsible for supervision of staff within the specifically assigned service(s) units including, but not limited to, areas of client care, self-care, professional development, time management, performance review and feedback.

Identifies and implements strategies for ongoing program development and achievement of contractual and budgetary goals.

Engages staff to ensure the highest quality of care and effective use of provider staff time and resources.

This position has a broad scope of responsibility and oversight for programs, clinics and personnel and/or carries an individual case load. On-call responsibilities may be required dependent upon unit protocols.

Additional Duties and Responsibilities:

Maintains professional relationships with various community resources that support the substance use as well as other client continuity of care needs. Participates in community and Integral Care committees as assigned. Manages staff and resources so that requirements of relevant funding sources, such as insurance and grants. Prepares and has oversight of the financial budget of the unit.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities:

  • Demonstrated knowledge of the core competencies and supervision of peer workers.
  • Sensitivity and knowledge of the cultural characteristics of the population served.
  • Knowledge of SUD and other community resources and services available to clients.
  • Demonstrated ability to maintain effective working relationships with supervisors, professional staff, support staff, and the general public.
  • Demonstrated skills in the area of community liaison and public relations.
  • Demonstrated ability to summarize plans and reports, making clear and effective written and oral presentations (including financial data).
  • Knowledge and ability to engage in a wide range of negotiation techniques, procedures, and strategies.

Program Manager Education:


  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field.


  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Ph.D. degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field.

Program Manager License: 


  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 
  • Peer Specialist Supervisor Certification

Program Manager Experience:


  • Must have a minimum of three years' experience working with individuals in treatment for behavioral health disorders and/or recovery. 
  • Requires having maintained own recovery over last 2-year period.


  • Three years' administrative supervisory experience.

Hours:  Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8:00am-5:00pm, flexibility needed. 

Salary:  $72,789- $77,862 annually depending on experience.
