COPSD Specialist (QMHP)

Job Summary: The Co-Occurring Psychiatric and Substance Use Disorder (COPSD) Specialist is a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) who provides services as part of a multidisciplinary behavioral health team to coordinate care for individuals presenting with co-occurring substance use and mental health diagnosis. Service delivery locations is dependent on specific program or grant assignment.

The COPSD Specialist participates in diagnostic evaluation, completes assessment, and collaborates with diverse individuals to define and facilitate desired life outcomes utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed perspective. The COPSD Specialist delivers therapeutic interventions to help individuals develop skills to manage symptoms, obtain/maintain employment and housing, and/or to obtain services such as medical care, nutritional assistance, financial assistance, transportation, legal assistance, and other resources to fulfill needs. 

Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) embrace trauma-sensitive and -informed practices, provide Suicide Safer care, and foster a supportive and welcoming environment that promotes racial and health equity. QMHPs operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill set by forging therapeutic relationships with diverse community members. Interventions and services can be both office- and community-based and may require the use of a personal automobile. Individuals served may be diagnosed with mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, and/or IDD.

Staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a clinically licensed professional who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment. At this level, clinical assignments may be of moderate complexity and are handled with considerable independence, and complicated cases receive closer clinical review and supervision. 

Services provided may include individual, family and/or group skills training using evidence-based interventions, crisis assessment, and case management. 

Work is performed under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field.

License:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday-Friday (Flexible).

Workhours: 8:00AM-5:00PM. 

Salary: $22.35 - $23.47 an hour based on education.
