OTP Medical Director

Job Summary: The opioid treatment program physician will be a psychiatrist, licensed to practice medicine in Texas who serves as medical director of the opioid treatment program.  The medical director assumes responsibility for administering all medical services performed by the program, either by performing them directly or by delegating specific responsibility to authorized program physicians and healthcare professionals functioning under the medical director's direct supervision.”

The medical director is responsible for monitoring and supervising all medical and nursing services provided by the OTP. The medical director is responsible for assuring all medical, psychiatric, nursing, pharmacy, toxicology, and other services offered at the OTP are conducted in compliance with federal regulations at all times. The medical director should be present at the program a sufficient number of hours to assure regulatory compliance and carry out those duties specifically assigned to the medical director by regulation. The medical director may directly provide the required services to the OTP's patients or assure that the needed services are provided by appropriately trained and licensed providers in compliance with federal and state regulation.

The medical director should have completed an accredited residency training program and have at least 2 years of experience in addiction medicine or addiction psychiatry. Board certification in addiction psychiatry or addiction medicine is preferred.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school is required. Successful completion of psychiatric residency approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent body.

License: 

Required:

  • Licensed to practice medicine in Texas. Current DPS and DEA licenses and Board eligible. 
  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 

Hours: Full-time, Monday-Friday; 8:00 am - 5:00pm

Salary: $231,254 - $297,481 annually depending on licensed experience.
