911 Mental Health Triage Specialist - QMHP

The Mental Health Triage Specialist (C3) provides clinical support within a 911 call center by responding to mental health crisis calls. This role focuses on crisis intervention, risk assessment, and directing individuals to appropriate care and resources.

Key Responsibilities Crisis Intervention & Assessment:

  • Receive transferred calls from 911 dispatchers for mental health-related emergencies
  • Provide telephonic crisis intervention and de-escalation
  • Conduct rapid risk assessments, including evaluation of suicide risk, psychosis, and acute distress
  • Determine the level of care needed based on clinical and situational factors
  • Provide information on available services and treatment options

Call Management:

  • Maintain readiness during low call volume and respond effectively during high-intensity situations
  • Manage multiple calls while maintaining clinical accuracy and professionalism

Collaboration & Coordination:

  • Coordinate with first responders, including law enforcement and emergency medical services
  • Facilitate appropriate response pathways based on assessed needs

Documentation & Follow-Up:

  • Document all interactions using Computer Aided Dispatch (CAD) systems and electronic health records
  • Conduct follow-up calls to support connection to community-based services

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Experience in crisis intervention, severe mental illness, hotline, and/or community mental health preferred.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Hours: Full-Time.

Salary: $24.18 - $25.39, plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.

Position may be eligible for an additional shift differential pay.

  • Second Shift: $3.25/hour.
  • Third Shift: $7.25/hour.
  • Weekend Shift: $8.00/hour.
