Part-Time Overnight Community Service Assistant

Job Summary:The Community Service Assistant (CSA) will respond to all issues related to the provision of a low demand, 24 hour transitional shelter for homeless veterans. The primary purpose of the position is to supervise residents in order to maintain appropriate structure and safety with some ability to perform rehabilitative client care work. Activities will be directed toward providing a safe therapeutic environment where residents can establish a trusting relationship with each other, the staff and the program. Position requires staff to monitor clients, enforce facility rules, manage client behaviors, deescalate clients who are upset, intervene in crises, engage clients in social and developmental activities. The CSA works under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • One year experience working with Veterans is preferred.
  • One year experience working with homeless individuals is preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Hours: Part-Time. 

Workdays: Friday & Saturday Overnight.

Workhours: 9:00PM-6:00AM or 10:00PM - 7:00AM.

Salary: $20.03 an hour plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.

Position is eligible for differential pay.

  • Second Shift: $3.25
  • Third Shift: $4.25
  • Weekend Shift: $5.00
