Job Summary: This position is within Housing and Homeless Services and is located at Terrace at Oak Springs. Terrace at Oak Springs is an innovative housing complex in East Austin with 50 fully furnished single occupancy apartments for residents with a disabling condition and history of chronic homelessness, half of whom are veterans. The complex is modeled after other successful Housing First programs across the country and is the first of its kind in Central Texas. Terrace at Oak Springs has an integrated health clinic offering primary care and behavioral health services, a community room, computer room, supportive employment, outdoor green space, and more. 

Rehabilitation Specialists will provide recovery focused supported housing skills training, intensive case management, and service coordination for the residents at Terrace at Oak Springs with high vulnerability and complex needs, including psychiatric and/or co-occurring substance use disorders, and chronic medical conditions.  This position operates in a dynamic environment and works in partnership with racially and culturally diverse individuals to define and facilitate their desired life outcomes, and utilizes the evidence-based practices of Housing First, Harm Reduction, and Trauma Informed Care. Rehabilitation Specialists also participate in diagnostic evaluations and provide assessment of strengths, preferences, functional impairments and symptoms of psychiatric and/or co-occurring disorders at regular intervals to ensure optimal and personalized services.  Frequent service coordination with external and internal providers is necessary to support individuals in achieving independent functioning.  This position will carry a high intensity caseload and serve residents on an outreach and on-call basis, as needed.

The position will work collaboratively with the Veteran's Administration, Austin Public Library, the Housing Authority of the City of Austin, and other local organizations in the area to help support residents and encourage involvement in their community.  The Rehabilitation Specialist will facilitate community engagement and group activities.  Rehabilitation Specialists will build on strength by fostering an attitude of hope, respect, and compassion. 

Rehabilitation Specialists work under general supervision with moderate latitude for the use of initiative and independent judgment.  This position requiresthe transportation of consumers in a personal and/or agency vehicle.  

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. 

Preferred:

  • Master's degree

License: 

Required:

  • Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record. 
  • Center certification (QHMP-CS) to perform psychosocial rehabilitative skills training and case management

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Direct client care experience in mental health and/or homeless services
  • Bilingual candidates 

Hours: Four 10-hour shifts; Tuesday-Friday, 8:00am-6:00pm with flexibility. 

Salary:  Starting Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) salary is at $38,479-$40,739 based on education, but internal applicants are subject to Integral Care's QMHP career ladder.
