Pharmacy Technician

Job Summary: Pharmacy technicians conduct drug inventories. Ensure that drug information, such as drug name, expiration dates, and lot numbers are properly recorded. Prepare, receive, and record incoming drug deliveries. Enter client medication information and directions into several different databases. Receive medication orders from providers and prepare labels for medication distribution. Pull medications for inspection and labeling by pharmacists. Research and help resolve medication order problems with medical providers, nurses, and case managers. Demonstrate knowledge regarding additional client services throughout the center. Exhibit complete knowledge of all programs served and verify client eligibility, including Medicare/Medicaid. Ensure that all medication management protocols for Joint Commission are understood and kept in compliance. Demonstrate proficiency in multi-tasking, using multiple applications while serving clients. Ensure compliance of medication services/dispensary with all applicable federal and state laws, including departmental rules, Texas State Board of Pharmacy regulations, ICF/MR regulations. Crosstrain to work with the Patient Assistance Program (PAP). Assist in the distribution of Nicotine Replacement Therapy (NRT). Meet and/or exceed unit employee performance standards including efficiency, accuracy percentage, and attendance expectations. Work is performed under moderate administrative supervision consisting of program goals, schedules, and broad guidance. Exercise independence in completing tasks in accordance with established procedures, referring disapproved medication requests to the pharmacists. Technical guidance, review, and oversight are provided by the assigned pharmacist.

Works within Integral Care Pharmacy.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.

License:

Required:

  • Certification as a Pharmacy Technician in Texas.
  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Three years of progressively responsible experience in pharmacy technician work.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday - Friday.

Workhours: 9:00AM - 5:00PM.

Salary: $20.83 an hour.

Position may be eligible for an additional on-call pay.
