Job Summary: Working under the direction of the
Director of Resource Development, the Major Gifts Officer will engage in and be
responsible for all aspects of the donor development cycle including but not
limited to donor identification, cultivation, solicitation, acknowledgment,
partnerships and stewardship.
As our Major Gifts Officer, you will help design and
fully implement our major gifts program. You'll be responsible for managing and
cultivating relationships with existing major gift prospects, as well as
identifying new prospects. An ability to empathize with donors and clearly
communicate our organization's mission is key. You'll be expected to energize
team members, persuade prospects, and persevere to the end.
Specific job responsibilities include:
- Help our donors accomplish their philanthropic goals and
ambitions through a relationship with our organization
- Secure major gifts from individuals, corporations, family
foundations and others at the $1,000 to $100,000 level with the goal of raising
$1M annually
- Manage systems and software to track and cultivate donors
and prospects, including our donor database and wealth screening tools
- Manage existing portfolio of 1000 donors
- Work with the Resource Development Director and
Fundraising Manager to align efforts and set goals
- Create and implement moves management plans
- Make direct, face-to-face solicitations, and assist the
board and other staff with their solicitation (e.g., provide portfolio
development support, strategic counsel, and help with donor communications)
- Acknowledge major donors through public and private
recognition
- Track and report progress using specific metrics
- This position is highly collaborative with
Communications, Programs, Committee members and requires a team player.

Education:
Required:
- Graduated from an accredited college or university
with a bachelor's in public relations, communication, or a similar field
License:
Required:
- Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

- A minimum of 3 to 5 years work experience in fundraising, preferably in nonprofit and community-based organizations and within the Austin/Travis County community.
- Demonstrated experience working directly with donors and crafting effective donor appeals and communications, including use of social media.
- Communicates well and provides excellent customer service to donors, board members, staff and volunteers.
- Familiar with Customer Relationship Management systems.
- Ability to multi-task and manage the completion of multiple projects, often with shifting priorities, while working under direct supervision and independently.
- Ability to handle confidential donor/constituency information with sensitivity and integrity.
Preferred:
- Experience managing projects, committees and/or volunteers.
Hours: Full-time; Workdays; Monday-Friday, Workhours: 8:00am - 5:00PM
Salary: $68,692.00 annually.
