Job Summary: The Authorization Specialist, is responsible for daily oversight of authorization request and approvals requiring interface with internal and external persons/entities and any other activities related to reimbursement for services for ABH. CFS, and Crisis programs. Performs regular updates and verification of insurance coverage. Other regular work duties may also involve meeting and greeting consumers, facilitating consumer information, requesting payment for services rendered, handling various types of payments, issuing receipts for payment, retrieving message off facility voicemail, building schedules in the Electronic Health Record for the prescribers and other duties as requested. The Authorization Specialist works under the direct supervision of the Office Manager or Clinical Team Lead with close coordination with the Practice Manager.
Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education, Training and Experience (including licensure and certification)
High School Diploma or equivalent required.
Two year experience in insurance benefits (i.e. Medicaid, CHIP, Managed Care, private insurance), required
Experience with procedural and diagnostic coding.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills required in order to communicate clearly and effectively to all levels of staff and the public.
Skill in Word processing, spreadsheet, and database computer applications.
National Medical billing certification preferred.
Integral Care Drivers must have a current and valid Texas driver's license and be approved for automobile liability coverage under the Fund.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Knowledge of business, English, spelling, punctuation and arithmetic
Knowledge of Microsoft Windows
Ability to read, analyze, and interpret third party payer guidelines, technical procedures and governmental regulations.
Ability to work with little supervision.
Ability to set up routine for the performance of multiple task required in maintaining efficient day-to-day operations.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from center staff, managers and other customers.
Ability to scan documents into AZ Central system.
Ability to understand the Center's pertinent policies and procedures accurately.
Ability to manage multiple tasks
Ability to establish and maintain an effective working relationship authorization entities.
