Peer Support Specialist

Education: High School Diploma or GED equivalent required.  

Description: Under the supervision of the ACT Program Manager and/or ACT Team Lead, and with latitude for independent judgement, will perform Peer Recovery and support services for the Behavioral Health Division clients.  Specifically, primary responsibility is to instill a sense of Recovery through skills training, instruction, modeling, advocating, positive feedback and shaping that will support and guide our consumer customers in their own recovery  A Peer Recovery Specialist may lead or co-facilitate groups or individual services providing training in mental health services, recovery, self-help, whole health, empowerment, socialization or recreation. A "PRS" may also be an integral part of the engagement and Person Centered Care Plan development process. 

This "Peer" position is only for staff who have been treated for a Behavioral Health Target Population diagnosis for at least 1 year, are advanced in their own recovery, and are willing and able to share their "Recovery Story" and personal experiences in a positive motivational manner.

License(s): Certified Peer Specialist Certification is preferred.  CPS certification to be completed within first year of employment (Integral Care will arrange for this training as needed). Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record required.

Hours:  Monday-Friday, 8:15am-4:15pm. 

Salary: $14.78 an hour.
