Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Job Summary: Next Step has a crisis respite program. This program helps adults who are recovering from a mental health crisis who may also need housing. Clients average stay is 14 days. Staff help clients return to living in the community. Services include case management and social and life skills training. Clients are connected to local resources, including those offered by Integral Care, for ongoing support. A unique aspect of Next Step services includes outpatient competency restoration services for a percentage of individuals served.  OCR provides services to those currently incompetent to stand trial on a pending charge in an outpatient setting.  Integral Care is proud to offer this program for the impact it makes in our community in regards to our legal system.

The LVN is an integral member of the multi-disciplinary treatment team. The LVN at Next Step provides general nursing care, oversight of clients' self-administration of medications as well as provide input and feedback to the care team in regard to clients' expressed goals for returning to community living.  At times, nurses will use their skills to respond to distressed patients in a way that promotes dignity and respect. Next Step staff members are trained in de-escalation techniques to help clients safely manage symptoms in a healthy and productive way. Nurses find Next Step to be a supportive work environment where their contributions are valued and a place where they know they make a difference. At this level, work is performed under moderate supervision with some latitude for use of initiative and independent judgment. This position is reports directly to the Program Manager and RN Supervisor.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. Occasionally, may require a flexible work schedule.

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Education:


  • Graduation from an accredited LVN program 

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) License: 


  • Current LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license 
  • Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record. 

Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) Experience: 


  • 1 year of experience providing direct care


  • Experience with persons with substance abuse, mental illness, or intellectual/developmental disabilities
  • 2 plus years of experience 

Hours: Monday - Friday, 2:00pm-10:00pm. 

Salary:  $21.64 - $24.64 an hour depending on years of licensed experience. Shift differential pay available for evening and weekend shifts.
