Respite Support Professional

Job Summary:

The Respite Support Professional (RSP) provides individuals with intellectual and developmental disabilities (IDD) support services in the home and community. The Respite Support Professional is an important and valued team member whose support helps caregivers obtain relief from caregiving responsibilities. The Respite Support Professional deliver services using a person-centered and trauma-informed care approach.  This position works under general supervision of the Respite Support Professional Supervisor (RSP-S).

Responsibilities and Duties:

  • Assist client with daily living activities.
  • Aid as needed, with all aspects of personal care.
  • Assist with mobility, and transfers if applicable.
  • Assist with meal planning, preparation, and feeding if required.
  • Help client work toward goals.
  • Support client in the home and in the community.

  • Must have reliable transportation.



  • High school diploma or G.E.D. certificate.



  • Current and valid Driver's License and a clean driving record are required.


  • Current state certification (or registration) as a nurse assistant (and as per state certification/ registration requirements).



  • 1-year caregiver or professional experience with the IDD population or Certified Nursing Assistant.
  • Show compassion, empathy, and have a passion for great customer service.


  • One (1) year full-time direct, client/patient care experience within the last five (5) years, in an institution or agency setting.

Hours: Sunday - Saturday, 8:00 am - 7:00 pm. Hours vary based on client need. Must be available to work one weekend a month. This position is eligible for shift differential.

Position is eligible for differential pay. 

  • Second Shift: $3.25 
  • Third Shift: $4.25 
  • Weekend Shift: $5.00 

Salary: $33,160 annually plus shift differential. Ability to work at least one weekend a month.
