Mental Health First Aid Instructor

Job Summary:

The MHFA Instructor, Licensed Professional of the Healing Arts (LPHA) manages all training activities and coordination related to St. David's Foundation Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Grant. Establishes cooperative and collaborative partnerships throughout the community to facilitate scheduling of MHFA trainings. Plans, develops, and performs all MHFA training programs under the grant. Ensures that all timelines and requirements are met. Responsible for maintaining the necessary curriculum for Mental Health First Aid to meet the needs listed in the grant. Responsible for assisting in collecting and analyzing all data as listed in the grant. Work is performed under limited supervision with latitude for initiative and independent judgment.

Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in social work, psychology, or other human services field is required. Licensed in Texas as a LPHA, i.e., LCSW, LPC, LMFT. Training and public speaking experience is necessary. Familiarity with substance use, children's mental health and developmental issues as well as adult mental health issues is necessary. Minimum of three years' experience performing mental health assessments, diagnosis, and treatment required.

  • Graduation from an accredited college or university with a Master's degree in a human services field.
  • Licensed in Texas as a LPHA, i.e., MD, DO, LPC, LMFT, LCSW, or Licensed Psychologist required. 

Experience:

Required: 

  • The MHFA Instructor conducts all training activities and coordination related to the SAMHSA Mental Health Awareness Training (MHAT) for Service Providers & Families of Armed Service Personnel & Veterans Grant. Establishes cooperative and collaborative partnerships throughout the veteran community to facilitate scheduling of Mental Health First Aid (MHFA) Veteran-module trainings, and also counseling on Access to Lethal Means (CALM). Veteran status ,service member or Family member, spouse of Veteran required.

License: 

Required:

  • Licensed as an Advanced Practice Nurse-Psychiatric Mental Health or Physician Assistant in Texas.
  • Current DEA license
  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record. 

Hours: Full-time; Monday-Friday, 8:00 AM - 5:00 PM.

Salary:  $55,602-$63,616 depending on experience and years licensed.
