Job Summary:  Serves as a primary care physician, specializing in the areas of general pediatrics, internal medicine, or family practice working in an integrated community mental health and primary care setting providing medical services in an assigned area within scope of license, training, credentialing, current standards of care and per quality criteria of the employer.  The physician candidate will provide direct patient care and should be able to independently administer and interpret routine and special diagnostic test in and expedient and professional manner.  Maintains a collaborative environment with other referring physicians, residents, clinical staff, and support staff to provide quality patient care.  The physician will be actively working in collaboration with the behavioral health team to further the health benefits of the patients through integrated care.  This could include, but is not limited to, attending daily huddles with the team, staffing cases with other team members, and gathering collateral information as needed.  Provides evidence-based and compassionate care to all patients as assigned to improve patient outcomes and increase patient satisfaction scores. Demonstrates patient centered and patient valued behavior. Evaluates and treats patients with appropriate medical diagnostic and treatment skills. Reviews patient medical charts to diagnose, treat, and provide care management and education to patients and families.  Recommends, participates in, and works to ensure the success of efforts to improve cost effectiveness and quality of care provided to patients.  Utilizes clinic resources efficiently and wisely.  Coordinates the multidisciplinary care delivered to all patients, to optimize patient care.  Makes appropriate patient referrals as necessary.  Participates in academic programs (e.g. medical education and research) as requested.  May supervise Advanced Practice Providers as needed.  Attends Performance Improvement Programs and Peer Review committee meetings; and is an active participant in the process.  Performs other duties as assigned.  Works harmoniously with Unit Manager(s), Associate Medical Director and Chief Medical Officer to define and deliver quality clinical medical care.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited medical school conferring MD/DO.
  • Successful completion of general pediatric, general internal medicine, or family practice residency approved by the Accreditation Council on Graduate Medical Education (ACGME) or equivalent body

License: 

Required:

  • Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record.
  • Licensed to practice medicine in Texas by the Texas Medical Board.
  • Current DEA license
  • Board eligible/certified in general pediatrics, internal medicine, family practice or demonstrate active pursuit of board certification as defined by the appropriate specialty board of the American Board of Medical Specialties or the Bureau of Osteopathic Specialists.

Experience: 

Required:

  • Demonstrated capabilities in medical practice and clinical administration and management.

Preferred:

  • One year of clinical experience in the treatment and management of mental illness and/or substance use disorder
  • Meets all other criteria for employment and medical staff appointment, as appropriate.

Hours: Relief; varies

Salary:  $87.51 an hour.
