ACT Substance Use Counselor

Education: Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Sociology, Psychology or related field is required.   Master's degree preferred.

Description: The primary purpose of position is to provide recovery focused intensive community-based services for people who experience complex and co-occurring conditions such as mental illness, a substance use disorder and a chronic medical condition. This service is done by working collaboratively with an interdisciplinary team to assist consumers to foster a connection to the community and build support networks that promote wellness, while decreasing the need for inpatient hospitalization and/or incarceration. The position will require strong engagement and substance use intervention skills. This position will require effective collaboration with various community partners. All services should be recovery focused and in line with a Housing First philosophy, including Harm Reduction approaches. May require a flexible work schedule.  This position requires the transportation of consumers in personal vehicle and on call rotations.

Minimum 2 years of direct service provider experience working with adults experiencing substance use disorders or dually diagnosed with co-occurring substance use and psychiatric disorders.  Must be able to utilize electronic record system. Must have a practical understanding of the Stages of Change, Motivational Interviewing, advocacy, AA and other community recovery groups. Must be able to develop therapeutic relationships with clients from a variety of social and cultural backgrounds and work effectively as a team member within the Forensic ACT team.  Education may be substituted for experience.

License: LCDC or LCDC-Intern preferred.  Center certification as a Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) required.  Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record required. 

Hours: 8:00am-5:00pm, Monday- Friday.

Salary: Starting Qualified Mental Health Professional (QMHP) salary is at $38,479-$40,739 based on education, but internal applicants are subject to Integral Care's QMHP career ladder.
