Relief Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN)

Job Summary: The Licensed Vocational Nurse (LVN) provides essential nursing care and clinical support to patients enrolled in a Narcotic Treatment Program (NTP). Under the supervision of a Registered Nurse (RN) and/or physician, the LVN is responsible for patient observation, medication administration, and assisting with the monitoring and assessment of individuals experiencing substance use withdrawal. This role plays a vital part in promoting patient safety, treatment adherence, and recovery oriented, trauma informed care.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Assist with Clinical Opiate Withdrawal Scale (COWS) and Clinical Institute Withdrawal Assessment for Alcohol (CIWA) screenings under appropriate supervision, and promptly report findings to the RN or medical provider.
  • Observe, recognize, and report signs of intoxication, withdrawal, or adverse medication reactions.
  • Administer prescribed medications in accordance with program policies, procedures, and regulatory requirements.
  • Monitor patients following medication administration to ensure safety, effectiveness, and appropriate response.
  • Accurately and timely document focused assessments, medication administration, and patient responses in compliance with clinical protocols and regulatory standards.
  • Collaborate with nurses, physicians, counselors, and interdisciplinary team members to support individualized treatment planning and continuity of care.
  • Provide patient education, within the scope of practice, related to medication adherence, withdrawal symptoms, and general health and wellness.
  • Maintain a safe, respectful, and confidential treatment environment in compliance with 42 CFR Part 2, professional nursing standards, and organizational policies.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Required:

  • Graduation from an accredited LVN program.

License:

Required:

  • Current LVN (Licensed Vocational Nurse) license in Texas.
  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

  • 1 year of experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse.

Hours: Relief.

Workdays: Varies, day shift.

Workhours: Varies.

Salary: $29.38 - $37.47 an hour, depending on years of licensure, plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.

Position may be eligible for an additional shift differential pay.

  • Second Shift: $3.25/hour.
  • Third Shift: $7.25/hour.
  • Weekend Shift: $8.00/hour.
