Relief 911 Mental Health Triage Specialist - QMHP
Job Number: 26-12977
Description:
The Mission: Deflection & Specialized Care In Austin, when someone calls 911, they are given a choice: "Police, Fire, EMS, or Mental Health?" Our team is that fourth option. Our primary goal is deflection-identifying the right resources and services to prevent unnecessary police response or EMS dispatch.

911 Call Intercept: Receive direct transfers from 911 call takers to provide immediate clinical screening and crisis support.
Complex Multitasking: Manage multiple software systems simultaneously-navigating 911 dispatch technology and electronic health records while remaining present with the caller.
Ensuring a Safer Response: Provide clinical support during higher-intensity situations where police are responding, helping to ensure a safer and more informed outcome for the community.
Systemic Impact: Our work has a statistically significant impact on reducing arrests, use of force, and officer time on scene by connecting people to the right care at the right time.
Professional Development & Culture: We prioritize a culture of learning, growth, and radical candor. We are committed to grounding new clinicians in the essentials of crisis work through:
Crisis Academy: Comprehensive training and guided mentorship with leads and supervisors. Team Accountability: A collaborative environment built on feedback and mutual support.
