Health Information Management Specialist

Job Summary: The Health Information Management (HIM) Specialist is a mid-level professional position within the Medical Records Department at Integral Care. This role serves as a subject-matter expert across the full spectrum of health information management functions, including document management, release of information (ROI), quality assurance, HIPAA compliance, 42 CFR part 2 (SAMHSA) & Texas Health and Safety Code, and general clinical records support. The HIM Specialist bridges foundational records processing with senior-level quality oversight and regulatory compliance, ensuring continuity, accuracy, and legal integrity across all medical records operations.

This position requires independent judgment, advanced knowledge of electronic health record (EHR) systems, and the ability to support staff training, procedural development, and compliance activities. The HIM Specialist may represent the department in the Director of Health Information Management's absence and will serve as a resource for clinical and administrative staff across the organization.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • High School Diploma or GED equivalent.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Preferred:

  • RHIA / RHIT certification. 

Experience:

Required:

  • 2 years of experience in medical records, health information management, or release of information.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday - Friday.

Workhours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Salary: $52,801.55 - $67,316.62 annually.
