911 Mental Health Triage Specialist - QMHP

Job Summary: This position operates within a high-impact, variable-paced environment and requires a clinician who can pivot between periods of focused readiness and high-intensity crisis response. You will provide immediate clinical support to individuals experiencing a mental health crisis, including receiving direct transfers from 911 call takers, conducting rapid risk assessments, providing telephonic de-escalation, and determining the appropriate level of care.

The role involves assessing demographic, social, and clinical information to determine the level of risk to self or others, including assessing for suicide risk, psychosis, and acute distress. Clinicians will also manage multiple software and communication systems simultaneously, navigating 911 dispatch technology and electronic health records while remaining fully engaged with the caller.

You will collaborate closely with APD, EMS, and TCSO to coordinate safe and appropriate crisis responses. This work contributes to building a national model for compassionate, effective, and equitable mental health crisis response and has a measurable impact on reducing arrests, use of force, and officer time on scene by connecting individuals to the right care at the right time.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Experience in Crisis Mental Health, Severe Mental Illness, Call taking.
  • Bilingual in Spanish.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: 8:00AM - 8:00PM, 6:00PM - 6:00AM, 12:00PM - 12:00AM.

Workhours: Sunday, Wednesday, Saturday or Sunday, Wednesday, Friday.

Salary: $24.18 - $25.39, plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.

Position may be eligible for an additional shift differential pay.

  • Second Shift: $3.25/hour.
  • Third Shift: $7.25/hour.
  • Weekend Shift: $8.00/hour.
