Senior Corporate Accountant

Job Summary: The Senior Corporate Accountant is a key member of the Finance Department responsible for overseeing complex accounting activities, including fund accounting, financial reporting, grants compliance, and internal controls. This role supports the accurate and timely preparation of financial statements in accordance with GASB standards, manages reconciliations, and contributes to audits and budget processes for a mission-driven healthcare governmental entity.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare and review journal entries, account reconciliations, and month-end close activities.
  • Ensure compliance with governmental accounting standards (GASB), Uniform Guidance, TxGMS and internal policies.
  • Manage and reconcile multiple fund accounts, grants, and corporate spending reports.
  • Support the development required filings.
  • Monitor and maintain internal controls to safeguard assets and ensure accurate financial reporting.
  • Collaborate with budget, grants, and revenue cycle teams to ensure alignment across functions.
  • Assist in year-end audit preparation and liaise with internal/external auditors.
  • Lead or contribute to financial systems improvements and process automation initiatives.
  • Serve as mentor/resource to junior accounting staff.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Accounting, Finance, or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Required:

  • Minimum 5 years of progressively responsible accounting experience.
  • Solid knowledge of fund accounting, GASB, or GAAP.
  • Proficiency with ERP systems (Workday) and Excel.

Preferred:

  • CPA Certification.
  • Experience in a governmental or healthcare organization.
  • Familiarity with federal, state, or local grant compliance (e.g., HRSA, Medicaid/Medicare, HHSC).

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday - Friday.

Workhours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Salary: $100,522.24 annually.
