Outreach & Engagement Specialist - QMHP

Job Summary: The Mobile CourtExpansion Program is an Integral Care Housing and Homeless Services expansion program funded by the Downtown Austin Community Court (DACC). This position is community-based and is tasked with serving individuals engaged in court services with the Austin Community Court. The primary aim to is to deliver and implement court navigation services to eligible individuals currently involved with or at risk of involvement in the court system, and assist them in accessing appropriate resources to resolve their cases. 

The Outreach and Engagement Specialists provide services to individuals experiencing homelessness who may be diagnosed with severe mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders and/or chronic health conditions. The focus of this work is to connect individuals with resources and services to ultimately assist them in obtaining housing. Services delivered are based on trauma-informed and safer suicide care interventions. Qualified Mental Health Professionals (QMHP) embrace trauma-sensitive and informed practices, provide Suicide Safer care, and foster a supportive and welcoming environment. QMHPs operate in a dynamic environment, develop extensive knowledge of community resources, collaborate with interdisciplinary teams, and cultivate a clinical skill set by forging therapeutic relationships with community members and/or stakeholders. Interventions and services can be both office- and community-based and may require the use of a personal automobile. Individuals served may be diagnosed with mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, and/or IDD. Staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a clinically licensed professional who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment. At this level, clinical assignments may be of moderate complexity and are handled with considerable independence, and complicated cases receive closer clinical review and supervision. Services provided may include individual, family and/or group skills training using evidence-based interventions, crisis assessment, and case management.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Masters degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Bilingual preferred.
  • One year experience working directly with people experiencing homelessness is preferred. 

    Hours: Full-Time.

    Workdays: Monday - Friday.

    Workhours: 9:00AM - 5:00PM.

    Salary: $24.18 - $25.39 an hour based on education.
