IT Systems Administrator IV

Position: 22-397-10071

Summary: Performs highly complex (senior-level) systems administration work. Work involves maintaining the upkeep, configuration, and reliable operation of systems. Installs and upgrades server components and system software. May assign and/or supervise the work of others. Works under limited supervision, with considerable latitude for the use of imitative and independent judgement.

Assist in the development, implementation, maintenance, and monitoring of LAN/WAN network as a secondary backup. Performs procedures for backup, recovery, and archival of files stored on the network. Communicates with vendors, users, management and networking programming staff. Serves as contact for remote network locations to obtain clarification of problems and to identify solutions or corrective actions. Assists in installation, maintenance, and troubleshooting LAN/WAN circuits and reporting to vendors as necessary on a timely basis.

Assists in maintaining the network's physical and logical structures and in installing and testing hardware and software. Assists in performance tuning and capacity planning activities to enhance the performance of the network resources and in maintaining network support software. Assists in or conducts product evaluations of upgraded or new hardware and software and identifies strengths, weaknesses and potential benefits to the agency. Assists in maintaining the operating system and security software utilized on the network, including the addition of new users to the network & establishment of rights and privileges. Experience in local and wide area networks. Knowledge of network facilities and data processing techniques; of personal computer hardware and software; and of network operating systems and security software.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

  • Bachelor's Degree from four-year College or university; major in Computer Science or other related study with 2 years practical experience in a Networking environment.  Equivalent combination of experience may substitute for education.  

License:   Current and valid Texas driver's license and a clean driving record required.

Hours:  8:00AM-5:00PM, Monday-Friday. May require a flexible work schedule. Position requires high availability and on-call.

Salary:  $87,670.28
