This position will be located in the community and at Black Men's Health Clinic. The Behavioral Health Specialist participates in diagnostic evaluation, completes assessment, and collaborates with individuals to define and facilitate desired life outcomes utilizing a recovery based and trauma-informed perspective. The Behavioral Health Specialist delivers therapeutic interventions and provides individual psychiatric rehabilitative skills training and crisis assessment/management in the consumer's home, clinic, or in the community environment. The position provides coordination of community resources to assist consumers in accessing medical, social, educational, financial and other appropriate services that help the individual achieve an improved quality of life, while decreasing the need for inpatient hospitalization and arrests. Individuals served may be diagnosed with mental illness, co-occurring substance use disorders, chronic health conditions, and/or IDD. Staff members in this position are working under the supervision of a clinically licensed professional who provides ongoing evaluation and oversight of all assessments, diagnoses and treatment.
