CARES Specialist - Community Based (QMHP)

Job Summary: The CARES Specialist QMHP Community Based is responsible for ensuring the provision of recovery-focused, person-centered care with a trauma-informed perspective. This role responds to acute behavioral health needs, providing assessment, de-escalation, safety planning, and short-term stabilization to individuals and families experiencing mental health crises. The CARES Specialist works directly with Law Enforcement and Emergency Medical Services to address the needs of consumers that may have law enforcement or safety concerns, complex medical needs, and mental health concerns to divert to more appropriate and lower acuity services. The clinician collaborates closely and co-responds with internal crisis support services and community partners to ensure a coordinated and compassionate response to psychiatric needs. This position provides assessments, interventions, brief follow-up, and service linkage to adults and children/youth in non-clinical community settings. There is extensive latitude for the exercise of independent judgment. This position may carry an individual caseload.

Regular, predictable attendance is considered to be an essential requirement for this position. Other duties may be assigned. May require a flexible work schedule.

Education:

Required:

  • Graduated from an accredited college or university with a Bachelor's degree with a major specialization in Human/Behavioral/Social Services or related field. Master's degree preferred.

License:

Required:

  • Current and valid driver's license and a clean driving record.

Experience:

Preferred:

  • Crisis assessment experience is strongly preferred.
  • Bilingual preferred.

Hours: Full-Time.

Workdays: Monday - Thursday or Tuesday - Friday.

Workhours: 8:00AM - 5:00PM.

Salary: $23.25 - $24.41 an hour based on education plus an additional 10% crisis stipend.
